to anyone heading to CHS soon:

food: we adored the grocery- their crispy eggplant fried with moroccan spices on a bed of greens with spiced honey and feta was Literally the Best Thing Ever. dell'z deli was completely different but also amazing. it's a hole-in-the-wall cult-favourite cafe with walls covered in handwritten graffiti and rasta decor, reggae music playing, and fantastic wraps and salads. we stopped in for lunch, and my "high on veggies" wrap with goddess dressing was utterly heavenly. 

shopping: i of course had to hit up my place of employment's charleston location to say hi and poke around. i also managed to snag some highly discounted designer jeans at butterfly consignments and a cute sweater at the impeccable pig. really all of king street is great shopping to be honest.

to do: i had never been to charleston before, so we made sure to check out a few tourist locations, including the historic edmonston alston house and the aiken-rhett house. we walked along the battery, explored the city market, went to a gospel concert, and toured renée stout's fascinating exhibit, tales of the conjure woman, at college of charleston's halsey institute of contemporary art.

and so was the turnpike from stockbridge to boston

a very belated photo post on a lovely and low-key 4th of july week in the berkshires.  

my mom and i also stopped in new york city for a few days to hit up the fancy food show, which was a lot of fun. officially, we were "trade affiliates"- a.k.a. members of the press- but really, we were just there to taste all kinds of healthy/natural food products (and lots of chocolate). 

as usual, we made time to hit up soho for some shopping- stopping for a quick breakfast of tea and juice at sanctuary t. they have lists upon lists of artisanal teas, a full breakfast menu, and a different juice for every day of the week. 

we also saw the punk exhibition at the costume institute at the met, which was fascinating and definitely worth a visit. 

i wish i had something more exciting to post about, but for now this is it! pretty soon, packing for argentina will commence and it'll all be a whirlwind.
